Goldselling and Powerleveling Ads
I wanted to do two things with this post:
- Our community has grown tremendously the past month. We’ve went from 500-1000 hits a day to nearly 20,000 hits a day. With new blood comes new ideas and personalities. We’ve had this conversation before in the forums, but I wanted to get a fresh perspective on gold selling and powerleveling ads. Which leads me to the 2nd reason for this post…
- The front page/blog gets way more traffic than the forums do. We have the option in the forums to run polls, but with more traffic you obviously get more votes/opinions. I updated the sites theme and added a polling option tonight and I want to give it a test run. What better way than to give it a whirl with option one above. So vote! You dont have to be registered with the site to vote, each IP gets one vote. If you have an opinion and want to discuss it then do so in this thread or in our forums.

I think you should put the poll options more inline with the problem at hand, that is, how to get funding for the bandwidth. You should incorporate that into the poll like this:
Yes, and I will donate to help pay for the site.
Yes, but I don’t donate to websites.
No, I don’t care if there is gold/powerleveling ads, as long as i get stuff for free.
No, I don’t care whichever.
My vote is yes on ads but no on gold selling ads. I don’t mind ads (even click on some from time to time) but the gold selling adds are the backbone for malicious scripts… I’m not saying all gold sellers are bad, you just can’t separate between those that want to pan their wears and those that want to reach into your pants to get your login info.

Do whatever it takes to keep the site online. Who cares if stupid people get hacked because they buy gold?
An open Poll wont help you with this decision, people tend to click the “good” answer. (make a poll asking ppl if they masturbate xD i bet only a little percentage will be honest - most will klick the anwer “the reverend” wanna hear)
