WotLK to Introduce Achievement System?
I vaguely recall seeing or hearing or reading something about a new achievement system over the past couple of weeks at some point. But to be honest, with all of the excitement of other stuff I guess I just forgot about it. Well today it was posted in the forums and it really got me curious. I hopped on the coughsandboxcough and as soon as I landed I typed /achievement and sure enough, up pops a new achievement screen. The layout is really simple and self explanatory, but what you do with the points is still unknown. I am sure this is another one of Blizzards way of gearing people up, and frankly I like the idea. Take a look, I only took SS’s of the tabs that had something on them; there are some that are still blank.

I can’t believe that soloing a raid boss is not an accomplishment.
Are the achievements per character or for the whole account?
I wonder if this will work like LotRO’s trait system where you unlock addition stats/abilites by completing various tasks?
wow that looks like a really cheap version of Warhammer Onlines Tome Of Knowledge.

How lame of them to ape Warhammer’s Tome of Knowledge (albeit this doesn’t look as cool or in-depth). Lake Wintergrasp also sounds like their response to Warhammer’s RvR.
Lame, lame, lame.
Leave your floppy toys behind and join Warhammer Online.

to be honest the whole “achievement” thing has been in general gaming for ages. Steam awards anyone? Half life’s later versions, portal, all the valve stuff has been full of it for years. Not being a vet gamer the earliest (proto) form of this system I can think of is Tony Hawks pro skater and I’m pretty sure someone can probably beat me with some obscure 80s game…
This is just a copy of a copy of a copy of an update of a copy of an update of a copy of a copy…. erm what matters is how well it’s implemented. It seems like fun. To be good you don’t have to be revolutionary. You just need to execute what you do well. So it’s up to blizz if they cock it up or take wow up another notch.

This truely pisses me off, it was one big thing I was looking forward to when I was going to play WAR, and now Blizzard is going “Yoink.” since they’re most likely going to get WotlK out before WAR. Do NOT get me wrong, I actually enjoy WoW, it’s just the fact that I can’t look around every time they “create” something “new” and realize it’s from either Warhammer or something else they were absolutely 100% known to have wanted to do.
Yes, it’s not easy at all to be the “new idea” person and it be 100% new, I think it’s kinda cool that WotlK is going to have it, it just annoys me that Blizzard steals everything they can, but of course… “It’s not the same” right? Haha.
Also, stfu with the Spanish BS.

it’s really so pointless to whine about things being ripped off from warhammer.
it’s the same as saying that warhammer is a ripoff from the old tabletop DnD games. just as warhammer will undoubtibly have many of the features wow already had 3 years ago etc etc
the genre is too old to make only new things.
Well, one, it can’t be ripped of if it weren’t published first. Second, to add to he list, City of Heroes already had an achievement system and it’s alot cooler. Lastly, the ones that are whining about stuff being ripped from WH, are those who are upset it will be one less thing they can claim warhammer has that is not in WoW.
