WotLKWiki Returns! [Small Rant]

Leaked information is like torrents and file swapping. You can’t stop it. You can’t contain it. Sure you can wave a legal bat around, you can threaten, but in the end there are endless avenues of ways to get information out. Luckily one of our best ways of getting information is back online! WotLKWiki was sidelined last week due to Vivendi/Blizzard bullying Wikidot into forcing them down. And why? What did they gain from it? I’d love to hear from the gamer out there that said, “Good for Blizzard, this information was not supposed to be out!”. Seriously, WTF, instead of pushing around a website, why  not clean your own house. Who the fuck are you picking for these “Closed Alpha’s” anyway, you may want to pick more honest people or control who does the picking. Why did you make your client a public download? Yes it is public. If I can type a URL into my browser and receive information, then that is public.

In emails from their ISP, Vivendi told WotLKwiki to remove “over the line” material. LOL. What is that supposed to mean? You mean there is a line that Blizzard has set and we are supposed to know what and where it is?

I don’t want to seem like I have angst towards Blizzard, because lets be honest, without them all of this is for naught. Blizzard is the hand that feeds all of our information hungry mouths. I just don’t understand some of their actions sometimes.

Regardless, welcome back to all the folks at WotLKWiki.info you have done well in feeding our information hunger!

  1. Thing is, Blizz./Viv. *needs* to do stuff like that to show people that they’re not just some passive company that stands by and lets people break their NDA/ToS/Eula. That is, they can’t let people believe they condone such actions; if they did, it’d make all the agreements/terms they set forth in their business utterly worthless. I mean, hell, look at how Blizz. hasn’t touched this site yet. They know it’ll go on and on, it’s just standard business practice.
