3.0 Madness and a Bestiary Update
Lots of activity from blue posters in the forums as of late, might be more signs of a coming 3.0 PTR. Most active the past couple days is Jeff Kaplan himself (aka Tigole). Here are a few of the highlights:
We can’t fly in Dalaran, is this a bug?
Tigole |
| For the time being, it is intended that you cannot fly within the city of Dalaran. We want you to be able to fly into Dalaran and fly out of Dalaran (via mounting at the flying landing or in the sewer pipe) but we don’t want people flying around the city streets. We do want people to be able to mount on their ground mounts in the city (but not indoors). This isn’t entirely set up properly yet and not all things are working. Most of this will be implemented over the coming weeks. If it’s horrible, we’ll change it. But that’s what we’re trying out right now. A big complaint of Shattrath was that it did not feel like a city. A goal of Dalaran was to re-capture the bustling street feel of places like Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Flying mounts work contrary to this goal. |
We want Storm Peaks back, have an update?
Tigole |
| I wish I had an update. We want the zone reopened as badly as you guys do. We’re trying to track down a pretty nasty bug with the zone that is causing the server to crash. |
Is 3.0 to the PTR a “rush to meet a deadline” deal?
Tigole |
| We beta test things for a long time. We put things on the PTR for a long time. Things aren’t finished. We’re still tuning and balancing. |
More signs of a coming 3.0 PTR

| To keep this forum relevant to the current or upcoming version on the PTRs, all old threads have been removed. This will be done soon after each patch test cycle is completed and the patch is applied to the regular realms. Informational sticky threads will be reposted after each forum wipe, and as new information about the current or upcoming patch becomes available it will be added in this forum. |
The official bestiary page was updated with the Wendigo.
Official WotLK Bestiary Page |
| Wendigo Though rarely seen, the wendigo’s existence is evidenced by the fierce, primal roars that echo across Northrend’s mist-shrouded peaks. Many believe these reclusive, cannibalistic creatures are the primordial cousins of the wendigo that populate the mountains of Dun Morogh. The wendigo of Northrend dwell in bone-littered caves and venture out only to hunt. They are ferocious and aggressively defend their lairs, food supply, and young from any perceived threat. Adventurers who do not wish to be added to the wendigo’s bone-mounds would be wise to run at the sound of their savage bellows. |
