Venia Tanks Halls of Stone
Venia posted a ton of pics today showing her run through Halls of Stone. They aren’t as good as a video, but still very cool to look at. I think the coolest part of this, from what I have seen, is the appearance of Brann Bronzebeard. Apparently there is an escort quest inside the dungeon that involves him. Sit back and enjoy the pics…there are a ton of them!
Did Halls of Stone today. Very fun instance. One or two slight drawbacks - some mobs are mechanical. Luckily they come in twos and we just handled them by rooting one and me spamming Death Strike and Oblit like crazy on the other. Other than that it’s all pretty neat. Bosses? Well, we’ve got a Gruul-alike, we’ve got a Maiden of Virtue alike, we’ve got an insane escort featuring a certian legendary lore character. Finally we’ve got Archadeus Mk.II at the end, with the same lore character working a machine behind you to try and summon some aid, but getting it wrong and putting you in futher trouble. Joy.

“They aren’t as good as a video, but still very cool to look at”… I agree but disagree at the same time… vids are cooler to show whats going on inside but there are cool parts of images also…
Whats that you ask? Well quit simply with the quality of vids that fraps does you can see the fights but you cant read the text… The pics allow you to see what to expect for gear upgrades and what type of stats are on them…
Now I have seen some pics with the char sheet open with defenses and melee sections open, looks nice, but I would love to see a pic with the general stats open so can see STM,AGIL,INT,etc to see how it lines up with current gear not just the stats that you can’t really tell I mean dodge parry and AP (well ok AP you can tell a bit but not near as much as the raw stats that create the ending AP with it)
I’d like to know the name of the combatlog addon being ran as well as an explanation for the box in the center. Is that a rune monitoring system?
[...] Venia Tanks Halls of Stone | DeathKnight.info Second screenshot from the left in the top row. Nothing particularly interesting about it other than the combat log snippet saying "Healed for xxxx (Nature)" The link is fine, by the way, they just have direct linking from other sites disabled. (Probably an attempt to cut down on their downtime / hosting costs.) [...]
is it just me or are the stats kinda low?
25% avoidance? 14k armor/hp? and no crit immunity?
14K ain’t that bad…my prot pali with 3 70 blues, 1 70 epic, 2 blues from mid 60s quests and the rest green only has 10K armor with a green shield, my friends prot pali with mostly 70 blues and a couple 70 epics only has 12.5K, and my other friend who’s an arms warrior with full merciless gladiators gear and all the rest also epics including an epic shield (yes I know a arms warrior with a shield doesn’t make since but he off tanks sometimes and he logged off with the shield equipped) has only 15.5K armor
With that said, having 10K natural armor without frost presence and 14.5K with ain’t to bad for the probably mediocre gear comparing the fact that mediocre 70 blue gear being prot speced with a 3.2K armor shield only has 12.5 (so 9K without shield)
compairing that the gear that they have is probably a bunch of lvl 68 green quest rewards with a few blues mixed in I’d say thats pretty good… Plus the other thing that you don’t know is the spec… it might be a blood specd that tanked just in the tanking aura,
not to mention that the raw weapon DPS is nearly 60% higher then a fully epicd arms/fury warrior with a 2H also… now I know that raw damage is just if both just did auto attack with no spells but thats besides the point.
Point is your missing 2 main infos, talent tree and full gear listing, since talent tree could mean 15% more armor which would be 16.7K armor, and gear could be made up of 10 green starting zone quest rewards and just a few higher level drops that also makes a huge difference.
To many unknowns to judge armor difference of DK speced to tank and current epic geared tanks with shields…plus didn’t they say they where removing crushing blows which means it will be easier to tank since not quit as high of mitigation will be needed that used to be needed just to not get hit by crushing blows.
/endrant
Ok I took fully epic warrior gear and lvl 75 blue beta gear and compaired outcomes came to this
W=warrior D=Deathknight (t)=tank speced (s)=shield
(a)=DK aura
remember this is 70 warrior with all 70 epic vs 75 DK with all 75 blue and these values are just armor value and not natural armor (did not add cloak,neck,rings,or trinkets… just normal gear)
W =10239 D =11079
W(t) =11262 D(t) =12740
W(s) =15111 D(a) =16064
W(s+t)=16622 D(a+t)=18474
As you can see their is a descent armor upgrade, though still not enough to where the lack of block % is made up to be as viable as a tank, still probably a lot higher damage then current tank speced tanks so viable to tank certine things, but not so great to where they replace any other tanking class (IE current tanks eaiser on the healer if they get their blocks up, but new tank can help drop it faster so ends up rounding out about the same)
The pictures look pretty awesome, I can’t wait till 13 november:)
