WotLK Cinematic Released at Leipzig!
Today Blizzard released the opening Cinematic for the Wrath of the Lich King at the Leipzig Gaming Convention.

Sent chills down my spine it’s so good.
It’s really awesome, sure it’s not as action packed as WoW & TBC intro’s… but hey, WotLK is a game that focusses heavily on the story taking place, so seeing it that way the intro is really fitting!
On a side note: gimme dat Frostwyrm fer mount plz? =3
Although I liked the previous cinematic format, where the trailer was mostly a series of nicely rendered character portraits and small skirmish fights, I agree with Blizz’s decision to take a new direction with this one. The mood, narration, and for lack of a better term, “Lore” of the whole affair was top notch.
That said, corny as it would be to repeat the BC trailer, I miss having a catch phrase -_-
It really is awesome, specially also that Blizz used the ending music from the Frozen Throne(when Arthas takes up the helmet of the Lich King and becomes one with it, the music when he sits on his throne) into this intro. Somehow, that makes it feel for me that Wrath is more or less a sequel to the Frozen Throne.
One could only hope that since they’re taking the story-telling line with the cinematic, we might be able to witness ingame cinematics that unlock as you progress through Northrend, That will truely make it all feel.. as you youngsters put it, Epic.

Sadly, I’m not one of the people who knows the lore heavily. I’ve had to read up on the lore for the past 3 years. That being said, I really REALLY like this trailer. It just seems like WotLK is going to kick it up a notch and not only going to be fun to play, but is going to immerse us in storyline, lore, and make us feel the Lich King’s presence right from the time we enter Northrend.
This cinematic is probably the best I’ve seen compared to the other 2.
not gonna lie though… i kinda wanted to see a gnome in this one XD
but this was the best opening yet! great job blizz! i just hope that mount isnt a drop off the lich king himself >.>
Unfortunately theres no it was good but could be better vote option…. I liked it, but it seemed unfinished, and leaves many questions unawnsered… whered the undead dragon go? Why there? Why are all those skeletons there, i dont know of any major battle that tookplace here BEFORE the litchking rose? Where are the other dragon factions? I think it was just to short, not much was shown, just a wasteland of ice and mountain with a army of undead, there leader, and a undead dragon… i just summed up the whole thing in a sentance, i know you can do better then that bliz. Although, the narration was perfect.
Unanswered questions? That’s kinda the point of an opening cinematic.

The big dragon aint no mount, its the size of a army lol.
Its name is Sindragosa (not confirmed) but some dude found out through data mining that she is in the game and holds the title of .
any1 got any more insight?
I bet my bottom dollar she’ll be a raid fight, most prob next to last, befor Lich himself! any way thats what i think.

I think that WoTLK will be more of an Rpers expansion, Being so heavy into lore. But that’s just my take on it.

It fluently continues from the music of the wery last scene where we saw the new Lich King (NerZhul and Arthas combined) . Epic enough ? Maybe . Made my back shiver ? 100% shure .
I doubt the big dragon will be a mount. We’ve seen in videos that the death knights have a quest in which you ride atop one for a quest. It’s not confirmed for sure, but most likely that dragon is Sindragosa. She does have the title of The Frost Queen, so perhaps she is the leader of the brood of frostwyrms. There’s an in-game area that looks alot like the spot the scene took place in called “Sindragosa’s Fall”.
I watched the video in HQ and was blown away even more so by it. Can’t wait to play…

I was thinking the big dragon might be Deathwing would be obvious either that was Sindragosa or Deathwing, but i might think Deathwing will be at Wyrmrest Temple since a rumor of the ancient black dragon Deathwing returning to Northrend.
not sure though.
O, and guys, before you start whining that the trailer was too short - the other half will be shown at Blizzcon.
Now I read about spine shivering, and this vid did not make my spine shiver, nor did it wow’ed me like the Burning Crusade video did.
I mean, who could have forgotten how the blood elf “ate” the mana wyrm.
Maybe it’s just me having heard the whole “king” thing being played too often, the “You shall be king” at the end didn’t strike to me as much as Illidan’s epic “You are not prepared!”.
Narration otherwise is pretty good, just that Arthas’s armour looked abit weird in proportion to me.

Unlike the first 2 Cinematics this one tells a great story. The whole narration could mirror Arthas as King of Lordaeron. However Arthas becomes King,not of Lordaeron but The Lich King of the Scourge.
Thats what i think makes this cinematic real great.
