9014 Beta Build and More
Before any patch notes are posted I think it is important to post the honor reset news…there won’t be a reset. Appartently Blizzard doesn’t want to shock the people that aren’t expecting it.
BornakkWe had hoped that the introduction of some new Honor rewards in the upcoming patch would give players a great opportunity to spend any of their remaining Honor. However, many players would still be surprised by an Honor and token reset as it isn’t something we’ve done in the past. As such, we’ve decided to not reset Honor or tokens upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King. Players who save their Honor will be able to spend it on level 80 rewards, although those rewards will be significantly more expensive than their level 70 counterparts.
As always, our friends over at WotLKwiki where quick to post the Death Knight changes. Here they are, I’ll add any other changes I find in a future post.
9014 Death Knight Changes
General
Blood
- Bloody Vengeance – No longer increases frost and shadow damage.
- Blood Tap – Tooltip Fix : Duration changed to 20 seconds. (Old 47802d.)
- Bladed Armor – Now increases attack power by 1/2/3/4/5 for every 180 armor value. (Old 1/2/3/4/5 strength for every 400 armor)
- Bloody Vengeance – Now gives you a 1/2/3% bonus to physical damage (no longer effects frost and shadow) you deal for 30 sec after dealing a critical strike from a weapon swing, spell, or ability. Now stacks up to 1 times (down from 49).
- Abomination’s Might – Range of attack power increase now 45 yds (Old 20 yds)
Frost
- Obliterate Damage lowered. (Now Rank 3 – 100% weapon damage plus 238.5, and an additional 119.25 bonus damage per disease) (Old Rank 3 – 100% weapon damage plus 252, 126 bonus damage per disease.)
- Tundra Stalker – Now gives a passive bonus increase to your Icy Touch. (20/40/60/80/100%)
- Guile of Gorefiend – No longer gives bonus to Rune Strike critical damage.
- Howling Blast – Damage increased on all ranks. (Now Rank 5 – 259 to 281) (Old Rank 5 – 192 to 208)
- Runic Focus – Description changed to : “Unlike most casters, a Death Knight’s spells cause double damage on critical hits.”
Unholy
- Death and Decay – Damage Increased (Now Rank 4 – 62 Damage) (Old Rank 4 – 52 Damage)
- Blood-Caked Blade – Damage increased to 25% of weapon damage. (Old 20% of weapon damage.)
- Blood Plague – Chance to remove a Heal over Time effect reduced to 25% (Old 50%)
- Reaping – Pestilence removed, Blood Strike added.
New Glyph
- Glyph of Rune Strike – Increases the critical strike chance of your Rune Strike by 10% but increases cost by 5.0 runic power. Down from 50.
NOT PATCH RELATED!
Before not knowing there was a patch today, I got bored and starting getting some video of various things in the beta that isn’t really big news, but would be cool to see if you wasn’t in beta. Here are some of those things. If you want to see something let me know, I can grab a video for you.
Thrym is one big mofo! This is an elite mob that roams near Gundrak. I hope the video does him justice for his size. He is absolutely the biggest thing I have seen in this game. Yes, I had to do the suicide run just to see how bad ass he was…(I can see him being soloable soon, there is already video of a overpowered ret pally killing him)
White water rafting! Well sorta, there is a NPC in Grizzly Hills that will put you on a log and send you down river to the Venture Company post in Grizzly Hills. It’s free to ride and fun the first few times. Sorry for that cocked up camera angles at times, going underwater would mess it up.

If I were to request a video…It would honestly be like a tour of a northrend zone…you know,kind of a (This is here…This is there) sort of thing.
On the plus side…I could actually read what you said and your ui in your video which is a definete plus and kind of unusual.

Hmm. He doesnt hit as hard as i would have imagined a lvl 80 Elite would hit. Especially for his size lol.

I hate these DK changes . Why they don’t remove Bloody Vangence completly ? Now there is no reason to create cross-specs , only valiable ones will be the deep ones taking 45/51 point talents into acount . Stupidity at it’s finest .

Nothing realy special his big but doesnt seem very difficult for a lvl 80 elite… thats as big
I don’t mind the changes to blood Still hitting 2300 DPS on a dummy and 1700DPS on Boss Dummies still need more hit rating only at about 4-5%.
