GameStop Sold Out of WotLK CE’s?
Kotaku is reporting that by the end of the day GameStop could be out of its share of Wrath of the Lich King Collectors Editions.
“Due to the number of reserves taken thus far, we are quickly approaching our allocation and may not be able to fulfill all reserves taken through close of business on Wednesday, 9/17,” reads an internal communication to employees. “While we hope this is not the case, we will not know for sure until Thursday, 9/18.”
As of this post, either my search skills suck, or I can’t seem to find any hint of a CE on their website.
Even Amazon, who you can purchase the regular or CE version from our site!, has issued a purchase limit notice:
As you may know, the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Collector’s Edition is in great demand, and there are limited quantities of this product across the U.S. In an effort to provide as many customers as possible with the opportunity to purchase a copy, we are limiting the total number that can be purchased. As a result, each household may only purchase one copy of the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Collector’s Edition total
Looks like the CE edition may live up to its name and actually be a collectors item.

why is it gay that a collectors edition actually be limited in amount? isn’t thats how it supposed to be?
I’m gonna be in the boat of people getting the regular edition, don’t really want to pay extra for basically a new pet.
Although it does look really cool.
It’d be nice if they *actually* did make it limited quantities. I remember how Fry’s Electronics had such a surplus of TBC’s CE that within 2 weeks after launch they were selling them for $39.99, no joke. It’s like Blizz. saw how in-demand the CE’s were for the original WoW and made too many for TBC… and now they saw how that turned out and reverted back.
I got a call from EBGames tonight about my normal edition pre-order. they said they just started taking CE pre-orders today and if i wanted to order the CE instead I would have to do it before they closed tonight. They sold fast

I pre-ordered my CE from EBGames today and at the time was told that after close of business today no preorders would be allowed for the CE as they were reaching their allocation.
I was really hoping to get the CE this time. I got a regular TBC and my room mates got the CE. I could care less about the pet, I really like the soundtrack and art books that come with it.
If you want a CE just go directly to the store. I went to pre-order my copy tonight and the gamestop had plenty of CE’s left (or so the sales guy seemed to insinuate).
It would be nice if the European version was for sale somewhere, it hasn’t even been advertised yet!
That is why i buy locally, with tbc they had 4 for sale, and the last CE sold only 6 months ago, so no rush for me…
Amazon doesn’t seem to have the option to pre-order it at this time, and gamestop just flat out stopped. I always get the CE and i feel little weird that I may not be able to order it, even though i went to sign up only a couple days after they announce it. That’s just poor planning on blizz’s part, because we all know most people are buying them just so they can e-bay ‘em.
well that sucks, i really hope that i will be able to get one (if they will release an EU CE…).
If you are from the US (maybe EU?), and are familiar with Frys Electronics, try ordering from Frys.com. Just ordered mine from there.

Personally I think alot of these got purchased by people who will turn around an list them on ebay for 150 or more.

has anyone had their order ‘cancelled’ after they already pre-ordered the CE? I just went to check the status of mine after noticing they didn’t even have a page for the CE anymore and it had been closed/cancelled without any notification :/
Bah.
EB games claimed they don’t do pre-orders and that you have to show up and make the pre-order in person ONLY if they have it in stock.
This is stupid. IT’s a collector’s edition, it says no where on the box it’s a “limited” edition.
