I Like Rumors

Yeah, lets pour some gas to the flames…

If you read here often you know that I have a hunch that early Death Knight release is the “big news” at Blizzcon theory. Yes, I’ll admit, it is a long shot, somewhat outlandish and reasonably stupid idea, but the ideas behind it make completely good sense.

Here is some more gas for the hype machine…

Today an official forums poster asked the question and seeked a blue response…

Where I work there are a bunch of World of Warcraft players and they are all saying a Blue said that the DKs will be released before the expansion comes out to allow people who want to play DKs to level them to 70 but when the expansion comes out the DK will be locked until they get the expansion?

Don’t know if this is true or false, maybe you can help me out?

That is about as basic of a question you can ask, the answer should be simple…yet it wasn’t…

What you saw in that response was a link to the original announcement of content patch 3.0.2 and SOME of the content being released with it. What you didn’t see was “No” or “that rumor is stupid” or even a maybe.

We’ve got a pretty lengthy discussion going in the forums about this idea. Lots of people say why it won’t happen and some give reasons it could..what do you think?

Honestly…I just can’t see it happening. Especially considering how much balancing still needs to be done to the DK. But then again…who knows, maybe Neth is really the master mind behind this most recent conspiracy to withhold fun from us! =D

I Heard Blizzard are hiring the CIA to whack anyone who spreads this rumor…..

Ide love it to be true in one way…in the other it would ruin the experience of sitting down on xpac release day with…basically all the good stuff…already here.

They’ve flat out denied it further on in the post : http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=10043225390&postId=100422120338&sid=1#29

    We can hope though…

Nethaera – “For clarification’s sake, no, death knights will not be released prior to the expansion release. The link was meant simply to bring attention to the information we’ve given about the availability of upcoming features prior to the release of the expansion itself. “

yer like anarky unfortunatly its not true

Zan’s post is correct. Bout time we got a straight answer for a Blue reguarding this topic. I was looking forward to early DK release but, now that I think about it, with many people being bored with the state of the game right now, DKs would overrun it if they were released early. Now at least the only ones rolling DK on the day of release are the ones who intend to lvl to 80.

Would Kenzi like some sauce with his crow?

  • Mandie said:

I can see it happening. It makes since it takes care of a lot of the crap that will happen if they release them the day of the expansion.

  • Mandie said:

OH! and if the DK isnt released early (PTR actually has a create a DK icon but you cant click it yet too) I will eat a crow too right along with you if we are wrong.

It’s a good theory, but the biggest thing about WotLK is DKs and Northrend. Just like the biggest things in BC where new races and Outlands, neither of which were released with the content patch prior release. Also, the fact that they aren’t ready yet. So, even if they did come early, they wouldn’t be up for long.

  • rivendare said:

Well speculation is over, we got a blue further down the original blue link of the original thread, as pointed out by zan.

On the DK icon subject, yes that will likely stay in place till u upgrade to WotlK, same was done with the races of dranai and blood elves going from WoW to TBC.

  • Red said:

how can bpeople still think there are released early?

First the Server the starting Area Ebon Hold is in is on the same server as the Northrend Instances….do a Ping check on them.

Also Nef Stated 3 times they will NOT release them before the Expack..

Also Upgrading you account Triggers your account to make a DK other wise it will be Grayed out.

  • Seren said:

If they did this the yreally should just allow DKs to do their initial quests and get to 58 and lock them from lvling any further or going to Outland till Expansion hits.

This would give them time to lvl up professions and what not then be ready for Outland when the time is right.

Highly unlikely, but this is something I’d love to be proven wrong on.

  • Demonwar said:

On the profession front they already get advanced levels in thier chosen professions so I’ve been told.

So they don’t start on zero anyway.

  • Red said:

demon is correct…Albeit it is not a very high lvl but in 8922 I believe they set your Poff. to 240

    Thats only First Aid, Demonwar.

There’s one thing I just don’t understand: why would DKs being playable prior to WotLK’s launch (past tense here, since we all know that it has been confirmed to be false) have been BlizzCon ’08s big announcement? That’s website-frontpage news, at most, nothing more; not even worthy of a press release. That’d be the equivalent of them holding a press conference to announce the next class in Diablo 3…

  • Red said:

Blizzcon Will announce like Vic said either a New Class for D3

Or better yet…StarCraft;s 2 Release Date.

  • Sharky said:

Can you please stop filling up this site with “DK will/might be released early” it was stated clearly that No it will not be.

As for the PTR having the “create a Death Knight” icon its the same as everyone who installs WoW but without TBC, you can still see the Belf Icon you just cant use it.

Its getting really boring every time I come onto the site to see another “I think DK’s will be released early”

    Quote from bliz poster
“For clarification’s sake, no, death knights will not be released prior to the expansion release. The link was meant simply to bring attention to the information we’ve given about the availability of upcoming features prior to the release of the expansion itself.”

  • Zan said:

Yes Sharky, it was finally stated *after* Kenzi posted this. So you’re a bit late to let us all know. Thanks

  • Cryt said:

    Oh My God

GUYS dotn you learn ANYTHING ?

“There wont be Diablo 3, youre just Hallutinating”
“Blizzard said there is no D3″
“OMG PC Gamer said they have a Gamepreview right out of Hell!”
“2 times no thats NOT Diablo 3!”

Sure Blizzard has to tell that they aren’t releasing Deathknights early otherwise it will Destroy the Fun factor at Blizzocn !
Just Think a bit you all should know Blizzard !

And if they dont release them fine but everything is pointing in Pre-Release.
Maybe they get Locked when Expansion comes out so you still need to buy it anyway.
