New Spell Animations for Death & Decay and Desecration

Anyone that has played in a group with a DK or especially multiple DK’s knows what a cluster fuck Desecration was. There is no denying what a nice graphic the old one was, but it really became too much chaos to make it worth it. Death and Decay is in the same boat; it looks nice, but in the end it was just too much business. Below is a video and some SS’s showing the new animation. It sucks that the old ones didn’t work, but I think the replacements will do just fine.

Ghostcrawler
We were starting to hear “DK, don’t use that spell. Nobody can see the boss.” Not good.

The new art is more in line with Rage Winterchill’s version, though it’s ironic because we looked back through the history of Death and Decay in Warcraft, and it had different art virtually every game. Clearly it’s something Blizzard has not ever been able to nail to its satisfaction.

Or punch them in the head and politely ask them to turn their spell detail down because their four year old PC can’t handle magic bones lol…

Desecration kicks ass! Looks like blight from warcraft 3. Love it. Death and Decay animation is also an improvement from that bubbly thing, but i think it should be a bit darker.

They put the head of the deathcharger on the chicken hawk and changed the skeleton slightly.

The whole thing still looks ugly, unfortunately.

The old desecration was too much, this one is kinda cool. Death and Decay on the other hand doesn’t have the same shadowy feel to it, hope they put some more darkness into that one :>

Makes me sad, I was hoping that they would do the “Death and Decay” from RFD :(

I’d rather have the old ones than theese . God damn bring back those arms ! It was far by one of the coolest animations in game , ever . DnD coudl used a rework , but the new one looks just plain dumb . Ever considered W3 lich dnd animation ?

They both seem a bit dull to me. I can see the point on the desecration, much cooler as it was I suppose it could be a bit confusing in the thick of things.

But the Death and Decay? Can’t see how that would make a difference at all, bright red and bubbly rather than black/purple and misty. But then I’m not in beta, more’s the pity.
Can’t tell from this video from the angle and music but I fervently hope that the starting ‘impact’ effect and sound are still present.

Don’t worry people, these are just temporary graphics.

A reversion to the old graphic would make a good minor glyph – so that you have the option.
