Release Date Officially Official
This morning Wowhead and Thottbot broke an advertisement/news release that pretty much announced the release date of WotLK. Shortly after it hit the offical site. Now before I go on any further, I’d like to point out that months ago this cover art was leaked by Ferarro over at Paladin Schmaladin, I ran with her info here and most of you clowns flamed it like it was the last photoshop ever done. So, for all you naysayers I’d like you to now see the comparison, any and all of you are now welcome to gravel for her forgiveness in this posts comments :)

So, all this news coming out now, out of the blue, makes me wonder what, if any, big WoW related news will we hear out of Blizzcon this year? Well I’ll say it again, the only big announcement I could think of is the early release od the Death Knight. So quickly, I’ll try and rebut all of you guys that think you have the solid reason they won’t do it:
Death Knights are a major selling point of the new expansion, they won’t blow their wad before the release.
So is inscription, 51 point talent trees, calendars, barber shops, token systems, achievements…the list of 3.0 content goes on and on. They can lock DKs after release for people that didn’t upgrade their accounts.
They didn’t release Blood Elves and Draenei before TBC, why do it for Death Knights?
Blizzard is also a company that has proven it knows how to learn from its mistakes. I’m willing to bet that if you asked Tigole or Kalgan they would say that having a metric shit ton of the population starting over instead of hitting new content was a mistake. releasing early will allow people to decide if DK’s are for them and allow the “4 DK 1 Healer” problems solve them self before release.
They are not in the current 3.0.2 PTR build, so it isnt going to happen.
No, but they are in beta. They are being tested, balanced and tuned as we speak. It would be a simple patch after Blizzcon. If they add them in the PTR build now then they wont have their secret news for Blizzcon.
I don’t know, I may be completely wrong and I’ll gladly eat the crow if I am, but it all just makes too good of sense to not happen. We’ll see!

*Blows wad* Omg, finally! lol :)
I knew it was soon, They tried to tell me other wise, but I knew…. I always know….
“and I’ll gladly eat the crow if I am” that’s a great metaphor
Why would i “Gravel” for her forgiveness?
Anyway as much as ide like to see DKs released early i think they are releasing way too much already,i understand releasing a new proffesion, they dont want too many people standing in IF/Org on release day just levelling the new prof…but DKs it would be too good for us and a lil too much for them to give us the whole expansion except the 70-80 part…but ve shall zee!!
I edit the post Lyceum, click on “gravel for her forgiveness” and read the comments. You didn’t comment in that post so you might understand why some should apologize. some of the comments where down right rude. those people clearly look like idiots now.
i went/i looked…there was some good posts on there,gave me a chuckle.
grovel!
The Draenei and Blood Elf rerolls could be seen as a good thing. Even with them there were too many 60s in Hellfire for the servers to handle. I think the more divided the playerbase is at LK’s launch (HF/BT/EPL) the happier Blizzard would be. If they pre-release the DK I imagine players won’t be nearly as spread out as Blizzard would like.
Both Borean Thundra and Howling Fjord are HUGE starting zones.
“I don’t know, I may be completely wrong and I’ll gladly eat the crow if I am, but it all just makes too good of sense to not happen. We’ll see!”
Just had to respond, while it does make sense there’s a lot of things in the past with WoW that made good sense but didn’t happen, or as you noted when it happened it happened too late.
And as Lethras notes, area’s will be more crowded if everyone has a lvl 70 dk and one or two normal 70’s. While with a normal realise all the 70’s spread over Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord, which are indeed huge zones. And the new DK’s will crowd EPL and HFP. Which won’t be as much of a problem as HFP was in TBC, in the beta the place DK starting area is swarmed but thanks to the world adapting to your progress it’s not a very big deal. And respawn timers are way faster then TBC.
So Blizzard did indeed learn from their mistakes, I doubt the DK area will cause much problems in it’s current state.
I seriously doubt DKs will be released without the XPac. Forcing DKs at level 58 instead of 68 means that the Outland continent will still be populated with people to quest with while most of the players move on to Northrend.
Also, where I believe everyone who can will create a Death Knight and play through the starter quests (and if you have WotLK and you don’t for some reason, you’re doing yourself a great disservice as these are the best set of starter quests in the game), many will stop playing at 58 when the DK is “released” into the normal world. The new stuff is done and now you have to a choice of playing in Northrend on your main or doing Outland all over again.
I agree with DK’s being released early after Blizzcon for one simple reason, I’ll bet the same reason why Wotlk release date was announced yesterday, the new kid on the block, WAR, how many people are simply not going to buy WAR now that Wotlk is less than two months away, if in a months time Blizzard announce Deathknights next week you can bet a lot of WAR accounts will be cancelled and a lot of WOW accounts reinstated to get those DK’s to 70 before Liche king hits, jusy my 2 cents :)
I think its stupid to say that they are going to release DK’s early, its one of the biggest selling points of the expansion and by allowing it released early that will mean EVERYONE can make one meaning mass over crowding, by having it needing WotLK to run it means that it would limit the over crowding.
i was just about to quit for warhammer too, guess ill reinstall buy and authenticator and hope the hacker cant get to me anymore
to sharky- when did they say they were gonna release dk’s early
The expansion does not need DK’s as a selling point, the new content alone is enough by far, they do however need to get the customer base back that they will lose to WAR over the coming weeks, after all now the release date is out raids will come to a halt, as will most everyday activities bar leveling and gold making and some honour farming, in 2 weeks time if your not doing one of those things you’ll be feeling the WoW blues and War will start to look atractive….and besides as Kenzi said Blizz still need a big announcement for Blizzcon for WoW, what he said just fits well with my reasoning aswell.
