Runic Focus in 8982

A new ability/talent/spell was datamined in 8982 and until now it was unclear what it was for. Runic Focus, as seen in the tooltip, gives 100% damage bonus to your spells critical strikes. So how do we get Runic Focus? Today Ghostcrawler sets us straight:

Death knights now do double damage on melee and spell crits. Normally spell crits are only 1.5x damage.

This was an intended change. Death knights derive a lot of damage from spells, but not so much that it made sense to give them a talent to increase spell critical damage. It’s just a passive bonus for them.

We were worried about certain specs not scaling as well with high levels of gear.

So…it looks like for good damage output we are going to be heavily crit reliant? not the best for pvp gut great for pve i suppose.

Well have you seen crit % changes? on PTR my palidin has 20% crit for normal melee and like 90% with judgments. On live my melee has live 5% and Judgement 20%.

The post is about the multiplier for spells changing from 150% to 200%, not getting +100% crit chance or something like it

I knew it meant that instead of a 50% incress for crit it would increse that 50% 100% to make it 100% (.5×2=1) increase to make crits double rather then 1.5, my reply was in reply to the person complaining about it.
