Finally, our flying mount is respectable! We was promised a new model to replace the death chicken and in build 8982 we got it! Notice at the end of the video where you can cast it in midair without dismounting, obviously a bug.

really it just looks like the dk ground mount with an added beak wings and claws along with gryphon animations, doesnt look too good but it still looks way better than the old one
Agreed, still chicken, very stupid. Gryphon, windrunner horde thing would be cooler. Although the ideal thing would be a scaled down version of that frost wyrm thing in the early ebon hold quest line when u pummel the scarlet crusader peoples.
I think it looks FAR superior to the other one. I think you guys are being a tad too picky. That’s an awesome mount imo.

Ok, I do think it’s better. That being said, I love the head, but the body looks a tad too scrawny. Not a very imposing mount for a Death Knight. A few feathers and a little flesh could go a long way here.
oh please everyone needs to stop complaining the mount looks way better than the old chicken, and ppl are only dissapointed because they thought it was gonna be something like the undead drake
I think it looks much better than any non-dragon flying mount in the game. Coming from a Horde perspective, I’d take that over the goofy bug-eyed windriders any day of the week. Overall, a very nice mount.
the item is called “Winged STEED of the Ebonhold” but its still a Chicken and no Horse :).
but it looks way better than the old one, now change the name or change the chicken into a horse with wings ^^.
It’s a skeletal verson of the steed you summon only with wings. So yeah it’s still a steed. Get rid of the tail or make it hair, and add some black feathers to the wings, or make them a dark thin scaly fleash and it’d be perfect

This is a FAR superior version. though I’m still partial to Netherdrakes and would like to see a frostwrym mount, I still think this new mount is good.The wings could get some skin, and the mount needs a little more meat on it, but otherwise way better then the death chicken
now im curious, is this the “epic” flying version and you get the normal chicken as the slow 60% speed one? or is it the same for both, just increases with the flying skill…?
It’s speed scales with your riding skill.
Rikaku, we understand it’s speed scales with riding level, I think Skythus meant “Do the graphics scale with riding level?”

Oh I’m sorry. yes this the version you get no matter what. The other version was just a placeholder. This version is the real deal, regardless of skill.

I agree it looks better, but not the best out there, but at least it doesn’t look like a very anorexic chicken as badly as the placeholder one did.
My question is what mount has that “key” as a symbol?
I know the first is DK ground mount, second is the netherwing or whatever its called and the fourth is this flyer, but what is the third?
Honestly, It does need a little meat or something to make it look like a more stable mount. Also, some frost animation in the wings would do it so much justice.
i still think ill be going for one of those frost wyrms instead of this… its kinda funny that people whined about the old one and now we get one that has weird bone wings which are not what birds wings would look like… only one bone not a bunch with claws… the old one was more realistic… how does the damn thing fly anyway?…

I like the idea they were going for… but some scattered Flesh and Feathers would probably make it feel more substantial. Or maybe some more glow affects inside the ribcage and around the wings.
Of course a Frost Wyrm would be cooler… but that’s obviously going to be a raid drop mount from Icecrown Citadel, should not be Deathknight specific.
I completely agree with Manifesto. It is quite clear (see WOLK trailer) that the awesome Frostwyrm will drop from Arthas or somewhere else in Icecrown and possibly be as rare as the Ashes of Alar from Tempest Keep. This seems to fit with the lore of Arthas as well as maintain the scarcity of the mount, meaning that when the frostwyrm IS seen it will be an incredible sight. Also, this mount is cool. Stop crying about it. Free 100% mount at 55/56 and class specific flyer/epic flyer? Blizz has made me all the more enthused to play a DK and this is icing on the cake. Admittedly it could look better but seriously, dont look a gift horse in the mouth.
To answer your question Egma, it’s probably either that motorcycle mount or perhaps the helicopter mount.

Head looks too big for the body imo. I also agree with the fact that they need to decide on STEED or GRYPHON. Not some weird mix unless it shows it’s an abomination of sorts. If that made any sense.
They need to get away from the skeleton. Yes, we are Death Knights, but the skeletons are all ugly. IMO they need to slap some wings on Nightmare and call that the mount, cause I don’t see spending 900g on that.

Okay this mont is greater than the old, but need more meat or more plate armore (bider plate if you whant).
Th claws on th wingss is a litlle to ig for me and the wings need a effect.
But this mount is great.
But i think this skeleton whit a meat envelop like for the wyrm mont is the better solution, beacose actualy the leg is too …

I like the mount but I wish it wasn’t a gryphon, I’d rather have it be something that isn’t similar to something alliance already get, as a horde player I don’t wanna ride a chicken, nor do i wish it to be a Wyrm, thats just unfair and would all the non DKs QQ, why not do a reskin of our ground mount and add armor and Batlike wings, it would be a STEED and its not impossible, the Hippogryph already look similar to horse in structure, just reskin that with Batwings and a horses head :p

3. I’ll admit that Frost Wyrm would have been awesome, but do you honestly think that it won’t be released in a future patch? Netherdrakes weren’t always around, yet here they are. Theres a frost wyrm on the opening screen of the client. Blizz knows we like them. Obviously they’re going to make a frost wyrm mount, it just won’t be released at the start of the expansion.

okay, why would they give deathknights a frostwyrm? i know it arthas’ mount and all but just look at the pheonix mount in BC. It looks like it should be a BE mount, but its too cool just for them. Complaining about a free “Flying” mount.. the only class that gets a “free” flying mount. On top of that, most of the complainers cannot even spell basic words right. Complain when you don’t get what you want, complain when you do.. It is a fine mount.
WTF? This mount is badass! Adding skin and “meat” gets you the KFC flier failure that Blizz had before. If you want a normal gryphon (or some other flier for that matter) go buy one.

I have to agree, it’s a more complex death chicken. To those of you whining, “Stop complaining! It’s an awesome free flying mount!” No, it isn’t free. It costs you 950g at lvl 70. The normal epic fliers only cost 200, and if you’re smart, that’s 750g that you _won’t_ be putting toward this (850 if you get the 100g normal flier) and _will_ be putting toward the 5000g you’ll need to get epic flight training in the first place.
Do we need a the frost wyrm? I would love the frost wyrm, and it makes sense given our questline, but I’m not going to ask for it. However, I won’t be buying this mount. If you think it looks so awesome, please be my guest. I’ll wait till I can farm a netherdrake, or they at least improve this mount to not look like a flying biology lab display of bones, or give us another option that looks better.
Trust me, it doesn’t always make you look good to tell other people to shut up and be content. Sometimes self-righteousness just makes you look worse.

1. Black horse with wings – might be cool looking
2. Hugh Black Crow (deals with death)
3. Skeletal Dragon not a bird (dragons look more intimidating)

I love Blizz for giving us the DK and all, but some people just can’t say thanks it seems. It’s fine if they release the Frostwyrm later, and it’s fine if you have to work for it. The game wouldn’t be fun if they wrapped and handed it to you (bow optional). So just sit back, enjoy what you were given already, and see what unfolds.
I’ve noticed that many would want frostwyrms for DK mount. Well, i can asure you, that when frostwyrms come, they’ll either be a 20k gold mount or a 0.1% drop from someone hard.

Yup, another death chicken. This is really a horrible model. I hate the bones, I hate the beak, I hate the wings…. its just awful really. Just awful.
Here’s an idea… how about a flying horse model without the wings, just something really awesome about the hooves. If DK’s can walk on water, why not have horse mount armored like a proper warhorse that can gallop through the air on a frozen mist or something.
I agree, flying skeleton chicken, wth Blizzard, i want a respectful mount not something from ur dead farm!!!
