Wowhead Announces Release Date
Wowhead, an official WoW fansite, has changed their front page to what appears to be a paid advertisement from Blizzard announcing the WotLK release date.
So now is the time to start scheduling vacations and time off!
Also seems Thotbott.com is in on the Advert news…
I’m also going to go on record now and say I still think that Death Knights will be released early. Here is my idea:
- Release with 3.0 and allow leveling to 70.
- Will give people the chance to see Northrend with everyone else.
- Will allow time for profession leveling.
- They can always lock the ability back once WotLK releases so that only expansion buying people can make DKs. This will serve as a carrot on a stick (pun intended) for people to buy the expansion.
- What other big news do they have for BlizzCon? (and I’m talking the WoW type news)
Maybe?

So has thottbot… http://thottbot.com/
Yeah I posted that on the forums, didnt read the rules saying that you cant post ‘firsts’ on the forums.
sorry for that but I was so excited:D
Okay back on topic: Time to plan your days off people!!
@ kenzi, I really hope you are right about releasing DK earlier, would give a major head start and not a lagging starting spot.
Can only hope they release DK early. I think it might be a possibility as blizzard i think realise how quickly people progress in end game and being the fact for a dk to be in a raid he will have to do double the grinding in the first 10 days of lich king than anyone else.
Fingers crossed!
On a Thursday?!
D:
That makes it difficult.
Ide love to see DK released early, but with a lot of people im sure buying xpac just to try DK if they released early and people didnt like then sales could get affected, maybe allow early release for pre-orders or something so they still have the money from xpac and some DKs can level ahead of time?
could work as long as its only a few days, with the changes 60-70 it wont take long to catch up anyway.
Thursday release sounds about right for the EU servers as its only a day after the server downtimes.
As for DKs early. I can only hope, but I still have my doubts. I think DKs are too big an alteration (though the patch coming through atm is immense), and also too much of a core part of the expansion to drop them on us early. Having said that it is one hell of a big carrot, though they really will have to make sure they stop people using them on the expansion day if they don’t install WotLK.. otherwise people may not bother getting the expansion.
“On a Thursday?!”
Yay, I smell a long weekend ;)
However, may I ask what made you think that DK’s will be released early? I suggested the Idea on the wow-europe.com forums, all they did is flame me and say it wouldn’t be done because It’s a too big part of the expansion to be given out for free. Yes, I even suggested the carrot on a stick thingy, but people were still very negative about it. Personally I can’t see what the big problem is… maybe I’m just too optimistic.
Forgot to mention that the reason I gave up on that Idea was because someone said that the DK starting area and Northrend are both on the same server, so it wouldn’t be possible to release it earlier than the expansion.
They won’t release DK’s early.
They didn’t release Blood Elves/Draenei or Paladins/Shamans on either faction before TBC. If they didn’t care that Pallies/Shaman would have to level 1-70 to catch up they certainly wont be bothered at the notion of a class going 55-80.
they will not release DK’s early lol..
Anyone who thinks that is just hopefully wishing.
its too much content to add bringing out the DK early, and its not on the PTR so its not going to happen
If warhammer becomes bigger than they expect, they will have more of a reason to release the DK early, to pull back in former subscribers. But honestly and sadly, they make enough money I doubt they’ll even worry about it.
I have to agree with Wiebe here. If they didn’t care about new Pallies/Shammies going 1-70, i’m sure they will take the same approach with DKs going 55-80.
With reduced xp rates between 60-70, it looks like a player who has been through the Outland zones before and knows the quests rather well should be at 68 (the lvl required to go to Northrend?) by late Nagrand early Blade’s Edge content.
I think it is just wishful thinking that they will release DKs early.
omg its up on the wow site now!
And yet the pre-order partners it links to dont have the correct release date listed…lol
@kenzi actually I hope you’re wrong about early DK’s. I think part of the solution on why they are starting them back at level 55 is to reduce the amount of players in Northrend on day one. Fighting over quests as we did back in TBC. Sure they added a 2nd starting zone, but the game has almost doubled in players since TBC released as well. Having DK’s on opening day is like a 3rd starting zone.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the DK in beta (been playing one for 3-4 days). If they released DK’s early to those who pre-ordered and what not, then you would have EVERYONE trying the class and flooding Outland with with the same situation.
IT IS OFFICIAL!
Yep

Oh wow, they didn’t decide a Tuesday date how odd. Normally their launches have been Tuesdays, which makes since since server Maintenance days are already Tues and so you already have a ton of people pissed off that you can’t play 1/2 the day on Tues patch days and even when the realms get back up they are lagy and nearly unplayable for a few hrs once they come up…
Well heres to the servers being Fd for a few hours on a Thursday rather then a Tuesday…
CAUTION SARCASM DON’T TAKE FOR REAL: Well even though they removed the server first achievments they should add just 1… “First person to be able to log into a DK and get it to 56″ imagine all the chaotic fun it would be for all those people trying to get a level when the lag is so bad, that you start fighting a mob “kill it” and start fighting another one before you even find out that you got cut out of the world the previous mob and actualy died (yes Tues patch days I have had stuff like that happen where what I am seeing is not what is really happening, but I guess my computer is 96.34x better now)
PS my computer was (near)top of the line back then when I was getting those lags on patch days and only time I ever actualy lagged (well only time after I updated my video card a month after getting the game), its just better now. I remember when I first upgraded my video, it went from not wanting to go anywhere near Ogmar AH to where even Ogmar AH and AV ran smooth.
Point is don’t say “Well you just lag patch days cause your computer sucks” because it doesn’t its just everyone lags when the servers are working on crashing.
On a Thursday eh? Well, guess the college won’t be seeing me on Friday XD
Can’t wait to go to Blizzcon though, I wonder what the big news will be (since I really thought it’d be the release date)
thursday huh?, i thought it would be monday tbh so it would “go offline” and they would conveniantly fix it with a server downtime
i do hope we get dk early so i can practice pvp, but if not no worries, i would love to get them early tho *crosses fingers*
I love the idea of releasing DK’s with the patch, that way we can get to 70 before the exp comes out!!!
this is TRUE RELEASE DATE, look at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/splash-wrathdate.htm -> official one
