BlizzCon wrapped up today and as expected, nothing huge was announced. That doesn’t mean, however, that the day wasn’t full of exciting news. Here is a recap using info from WoR, MMOC and WotLKWiki:

PvP Panel

Ring of Valor

• Animated line of sight with moving pillars and animated platforms.
• Pillars are timed and not random and block line of sight.
• Pillars also are able to be “rode”, meaning you can get on them and go up as they do.
• Periodic line of fire that does 10% health damage for 3 tics, makes for more strategic positioning.
• Being CC’ed into the fire will not cause damage.
• Starting locations put teams close to each other for instant battle.

Dalaran Sewers Arena

• Water pipe in the center is timed and will cause line of sight issues.
• No mounts allowed. (druid and shaman travel forms are)
• Starting points are a pipe in the wall that slowly forces teams out to avoid turtling.

Strand of the Ancients

• Attack and Defend concept with destructable buildings and siege vehicles.
• On offence the time it takes to take the oppositions base is then given to the opposing team to take yours the next round. the faster you win the harder it is on the other team.
• Will be changed from a 10v10 to a 15v15 with the amount of vehicles doubled before WotLK goes live.

Lake Wintergrasp

• Non-instanced PvP zone. They want to have hundreds fighting at once and work as been done to assure the server can handle it. (Vanilla Hillsbrad with objectives anyone?)
• More attack and defend with siege vehicles.
• Killing enemies will give you a rank which is needed to use the vehicles, currently 2 kills gives the first rank.
• Spirit shards are won to purchase gear.
• The faction in control will gain a portal to and from Dalaran.
• The controling faction will also gain access to the Vault of Archevon who drops PvE and PvP gear and is on a 1 day timer.

Misc. PvP News

• Soon players will be able to que from anywhere in the world.
• Battleground EXP is in the works as well as more BG daily quests.
• A battleground ranking system is also in the works.

Raids and Dungeons Panel

This is a very brief summary, check out the above mentioned sites for more detailed instance information.

• There will be higher level epics from heroic dungeons.
• 10 and 25 man raid sets will intertwine to give set bonuses.
• 10 and 25 man dungeons give different tokens for different gear. (duh)
• Will work on an ability to remove AFK or disconnected players from raids to avoid the 30 min wait.
• They are wanting more quest based legendaries.
• The fabled Uldum instance is still in the works, no time soon though.

Developer Q&A

I’m only mentioning the Death Knight or , umm, funny ones.

Early Death Knight Rumors Officially Squashed…atleast I had them asking!

Q: There’s a lot of rumors on speculation about DK’s when the next patch hits, we will be able to create DK’s so we can get them started before wrath hits and lock those in?
A: DK is a class that comes with WoTLK expansion. it’s not coming before wotlk.

Q: Why do i have to turn into a guy when i switch into bear or cat form as a druid? i get teased a lot! have you seen the bear dance? i realize the glyphs will make us be polar bears, but will there be a difference?
A: Are you asking if genitalia will be added? we’re a teen rated game so… androgynous bears man. we’ve had a lot of druid form questions and its something we’ve been talking about for a while, but it’s just a matter of time.

Q: You mentioned hybridity in classes and you don’t want them to smash rogues, but DK is a tank but he tanks through his druid like a druid. where you do you want damaging DK to stand?
A: A tanking DK trying to damage will feel like a prot warrior or prot paladin. a tanking DK who is damaging must sacrifice some damage to try to do damage when they’re not tanking. ultimately the design is that they won’t be ont he top of the meters.

Q: What’s the next Hero Class ?
A: We announced that. it’s the bard. april fool’s!

Q: We’re taking over northrend in this expansion, what about the next?
A: Something else! starcraft 2! not what you expect in a very good way. it’s not about comments, but i guess it kind of is but boldness is next! unbelievable boldness.

Q: WoW movie by legendary pictures?
A: Well you phrased it well. we’re working on it. we’re working hard on it. the story we have cooking is really cool and if i say more i’ll be shot and that will be bad for me. patience. good things coming.

Q: What other spells are going to be useable indoors? mounts?
A: We have one great update. Blizzcon exclusive! In the 1st content patch that follows wotlk, all of your ground mounts will no longer dismount in water. they’ll swim now.

Class Panel Day 2

• No plans to let any other class start at level 55.
• They are monitoring Rune Strike and would still rather see actual damage be the threat gain.
