Live Ebon Hold
We’ve showed you Ebon Hold before, so these pictures aren’t exactly new. What is new though is now anyone can see it in person! 3.0 brought a live version of Ebon Hold. It’s not fully functional, but you can still say you’ve been there! Take your Hunter or Shaman (everyone has one right?) and get an even closer look inside Acherus.
Thanks XJR for the tip.

How can we be sure it’s not functional, when only DKs can see the contents anyway? I am guessing it’s fully in and fully functional, and you can play it as soon as you roll a DK.
No it is the non instanced version….so nothing on the ground..Just like in Beta only thing is up in the hold where the trainers are,..
Ah nice, I’m glad you picked up on my comment, I thought it looked pretty damn cool ^_^
how did u get those screen shots from inside ebon hold? can u actually get up there in 3.0 or are they just screens from beta? like take the 9th picture, is that taken in 3.0?
they said you need a hunter or shaman for their far sight ability. It has a 500000 yard range or something. This is how they can see inside. Also, there is an opening in the bottom so you can see inside through that with this ability
Eagle Eye is the name of the ability. It’s quite tricky, you have to spend time getting a good angle to actually get a decent look inside otherwise you end up clipping through the roof and stuff.
The impression I got when visiting the area was it is as it will be in WotLK. The DK starter area moves through time, you progress as you conquer the Scarlet Crusade and drive them out of the immediate area. By the time you advance on Light’s Hope Chapel you’ve killed off everything in what is now the empty area. It would make sense for non-DKs to see this from the time perspective of “now” which is after the battle. To see the place as it once was you have to roll a DK. Welcome to hero class.
All that being said there is expectations of a world event to kick off WotLK. That world event likely includes Ebon Hold showing up in the area in the first place. So we’re looking at the results of Ebon Hold showing up but before the world event that leads to it showing up. Welcome to Star Trek time travel plots.
When you start play as a dk you get a buff on you that alows you to see any players that have this buff as well, and the npc’s that have been given this buff. This is how bliz made the non instanced starting area out of time from the present. Those that cannot see the buff cant see you, its like a invis world.
