Dual Spec Level Lowered to 40, Can Be Swapped Anywhere!
Still lots of 3.1 info to sort through, but a very exciting change to dual spec was announced today by CM Zarhym. Apparently the level requirement will be lowered to 40, lexicon requirement removed, and will only take a 5 second, out of combat, cast time to swap.

It was 1000g when I went to the trainer, and I (reluctantly) forked over that much.
I’ve since heard a rumor about a change (maybe even removal) of the cost, though, but I haven’t been able to test it since the PTR went down.

There’s a 1000g one-time fee to get a dual-spec, but I honestly don’t think it’s that much of a hassle. Think of it this way: Assume you’re a level 70 who already has epic flying. You level from 1-80. You’ve made well over 3k gold from questing, selling rewards, etc… And you’ll make even more from professions, raiding, and dailies. A major chunk of your gold will be spent on Cold Weather Flying (1k). But chances are you’ll still have a LOT of gold lying around from your quests.
1k gold is a very piddly amount in WOTLK… I don’t see why people are complaining about it. With the new changes, I’ll be glad to pay the fee. :D
1k gold is not that much, its just that its 1k gold for each of your character. They should make it a 1k gold fee for the account
lol im lvl 63 but..this will be epic ill just have my dad pay for it he is 80…he paid 6300 gold on his gear yesterday so he can make it with ease
wait what if you lvl at 40-41 do you like do ur 1 tp in lets say unholy then switch your spec and do the 1 tp in frost?? confusing
I have definitely spent more than 1k gold respeccing my shadow priest back and forth from raiding to PVP. This is so worth it. 1k gold takes less than a day to farm nowadays.
I am happy they only made it 1k gold. That is chump change. Anyone who has max prof can get that in 1-2 days spending maybe 2 hours on wow.
will it also let you enchant gear ?
Unholynite, with DS when you level the talent point you spend is being spent in your active spec…when you swap out specs any points you accumulated that you havn’t spent yet for that spec you can put in at that time. So in your question say you actualy learn DS at 40 because you happen to have a spare 1KG laying around at such a low level… now you go and fill in your second spec just flat because hey you just learned how so might as well right… ok so now you switch back from your holy spec you plan to use in instances to your dps spec for leveling… 5 levels go by and now you want to run an instance… your current dps spec is filled out but now your going to heal so you swap specs… hey look you have 5 points you can put in on your way to the instance.
Point is, what ever your active spec is is where your putting your points.
BTW to those complaining about 1K gold and saying oh only raiders will “profit” from this, look at it this way… Each respec costs you 50G (if you have caped it out already) meaning if your retro pali by day but protidin by night for your stratholme/ ramparts runs because your guild lacks a tank, or your good at it but hate leveling as prot… well now your spending 50G to swap to instance spec and then another 50G to swap back to your leveling spec, meaning each instance you swap specs from your leveling spec to be able to do costs you 100G, meaning if you even do a measley 10 instances you have already paid for it…
that doesn’t even include the fact of, “ah shot healer is afk or just got hit by a bus and can not finish the last boss”, ” crap that means we did all this instance for nothing if we are out a healer right before the end” “oh no worries let me stripe down out of my dps gear and put on my resto gear real quick, swap out spec without having to runn all the way to town and I can heal for this boss since we have enough dps even with a lack of a person”, plus your also be in your healing glyphs now instead of your dps ones etc etc.
Lets sya you instance twice a week, 5 weeks and you’ll be at break even, 6 weeks and your up 200G.
what about ppl at like lvl 50 who cant afford 1,000 gold and could benefit. having a spec to solo with and reach level 70 and 80, and then say a dps spec to group with to get helpfull items. lower levels should have easy access considering level 50 players know how to play and will benefit compared to a level 10 player trying to understand duel spec
