Yeah, yeah – I know Blizzcon is only a couple of days away and that we may as well wait and see what Blizzard actually has to say about the upcoming expansion, but it’s too hard not to say a few things about the tidbits of information floating around. If you haven’t heard anything about this yet, MMO-Champion.com “leaked” a ton of details the other day about the upcoming expansion – including the new races, new class/race combos, and changes to existing zones. I found this interesting further reading on the change behind ghoul-stun (and Paladin’s hammer stun too).
The second blue is about dual-wield tanking, and basically more bad news for DW-tanks. Most 1H tank weapons are too fast (and therefore creating too much parry-gib risk), and the blue mistakenly refers to the upcoming warrior/paladin tank weapon as something we might want. The Rawr simulator, which includes modules for DK DPS and Tanks has been updated again for 3.2, with most of the content now up-to-date. Changes and new content from the PTR of 3.2.2 includ that PvP Death Knights have a 1 min cooldown on gnaw (stun) for their ghoul. Rogues AOE fan of knives got nerfed big time (-30% currently on PTR). More new on the details is at wowraid and mmo-champion.
Also, of course, Onyxia is back with a new deep breath and retro loot, including a 22-slot sack.
The image is how the original Onyxia looked. Man, I hated those whelps.

Eurogamer have a really good article, part one published so far, which talks about how WoW was designed.
They’ve interviewed Tom Chilton, Jeff Kaglan and other senior staff to storyline how the game went from a concept to sketch to model to release, and the turns along the way. Gnolls were an original art inspiration, for example, and no PvP at launch was a decision in order to get the game on the shelves.
No mention of death knights in the article (yet)! I guess we weren’t a twinkle in their eyes …
