There have been a couple of post on the forums that GC has responded to in regards to Death Knights. First was Errogants plea to have DW made -at least- viable. GC responds with three words that give a glimmer of hope with little detail:

Jargamain made the arguement that it isn’t really that DK’s are overpowered, it is simply that Blizzard designs boss raids (in Ulduar) around having a DK tank. GC responds:

You know, those encounter designers are right across the hall here. I am waving at them right now. We all work pretty closely together to match the boss abilities to class abilities. We work even closer together on the numbers. When someone is tuning Frozen Blows or Imbalancing Strike, they do that knowing what the stam pools, mitigation, avoidance and cooldowns are of appropriately geared tanks.

That’s not to say boss design is irrelevant. Say for example we made a raid with one boss, like Eye of Eternity. Now say Feral druids were slightly better at that fight. Does that mean druids are overpowered for that encounter?

There are 14 Ulduar bosses. If DKs are better at tanking 5 of those does that mean DKs are overpowered? If the next tier of content has bosses that druids are better at tanking, does that make things equal?

We want them to all be close ideally. Since we don’t want to give every tank the exact same stats and gear they are never going to be 100% equal. The trick is discovering how much of a delta is too much (and it’s an answer that’s hard to generate with math alone).

Jabi was a warrior that must have got owned by a DK.

Is it balanced that DKs regularly do 2-3x my damage in 2v2 Even though they have a multitude of damage reduction abilities(let’s not even talk about frost presence), armor ignoring stirkes that regularly crit for 7-8k on 800 resil, and a ranged spammable snare?

I think the highest I’ve ever MS crit a DK for was somewhere in the 1700 ballpark.
I get scourgestrike crit regularly for ~7200.

Please answer why it’s fair not only for DKs to have massive utility BUT double my damage. I’d really like to know.

MS hits for physical damage. DKs wear plate. SS hits for shadow damage. Warriors wear plate.

MS requires rage. SS requires two runes and two diseases to already be active on the target.

SS hits. MS hits and causes a healing debuff.

You can’t just compare two abilities out of context like this. Shred likely does more damage than MS or SS. Many rogue attacks hit for far less. I’m not sure what conclusions you can draw from such facts.

Now, if you have evidence that over the course of a match the DK is consistently doing much more damage than you, that might be something worth digging into.

I can’t seem to find a blog design, I’ll settle on something soon…I think. There are more changes coming. Third times a charm?

The site has been in transition for about a week now, I wouldn’t say that it is completely redone but it’s close. There are a couple reasons for the change. The main one is the old theme is no longer developed or supported, so as Wordpress continues to patch the further behind the theme gets, meaning eventually it just won’t work. I wanted to stay with the same theme developer, so I chose this one as the new theme. Since I was making the plunge for an updated theme I figured now was better than any to redo the look of the site too. So, here it is. Drastic change no doubt, but I really was tired of all the black. Tired of the black!? Sorta, yeah. Some of you guys think that a DK site should be dark and evil…really? Right now, if you are using IE6 or lower (upgrade?) the site is going to look borked. I’m gonna post the poll that has been in the sidebar for about a day now and get some feedback on what you guys think. Feel free to comment your opinions and suggestions as well (don’t hold back).

On a side note, figured I would actually post something DK related in spite of all the contests and site news. The video below was posted on Wowinsider a week or so ago. It’s an odd sotry about a DK with some mild language, so if that sort of thing will get you in trouble at work then be careful.

Well, if you haven’t already noticed, we have a winner! Congratulations to Anarchron! His design just fit too well with the site to not pick it. It was definitely a hard choice and I still have a few other favorites. The contest will be an ongoing deal though. This isn’t really site news, but fellow DKinfo member and a major player in the DK testing thus far has been immortalized by Blizzard! Hex posted about a quest in Icecrown that has a Death Knight NPC that helps you. Guess what that NPC’s name is…that’s right, Jayde! Grats man! well deserved!

Here is your chance to win another 60 day WoW game card! This time I’m looking for a logo for the site. This contest will be a bit different. There may not be any voting at all. • 200×90px logo, I’ll post a white box below to show the example:

• Use one of the 3 sets of rune icons that we have. I don’t care which, I’ll let you chose which ever fits your own artistic style. You can even use all 3 sets if you can make room.
• The logo MUST say DeathKnight.info  and nothing else. Make sure that the D and the K are both in capitol letters.
• A flash logo will get a huge “you’re gonna fucking win” bonus. Preferably have the runes start out grey and then fill up in their respected colors over 10 sec, then once full have the runes and or the DK.info text sorta of flash or flicker. Then set it to pause for a bit before looping over. Make sense? OMG game card for you if you can do it.
• If you do a regular image and not flash, make sure the back ground is either transparent or using the color #1b1b1b saved in .png format.
• Fill up as much of the 200X90 as possible, the less space the better. Keep the full area active.

Our little community of future Death Knights (and some present) is growing really good! Someone mentioned in an email, and moderator DragoonV said he even thought about it recently, about making a MySpace DKinfo group…well, how about we one up that and turn our forum profiles into DKSpace profiles! Did you know that Blizzard has a deal with Direct TV to air Blizzcon to US customers leaving EU fans with nothing? A couple of big European WoW fan sites have teamed up and created a petition in hopes of Blizzard making accommodations for Euro people to see BlizzCon. Death Knight Wiki!

It’s been hard keeping up with the blog and the forums, much less work on the wiki too, but that is about to change! We’ll be working on adding more Death Knight information to the wiki. New DeathKnight.info Bloggers!

Some of you may have noticed posts from two new bloggers, please officially welcome Broski and Arilin! As much as I would love to make surfing for information about WoW and posting it here on DKinfo my full time job, that just isn’t the case. I work a full time job, have 3 kids active in sports, and a demanding wife >.< and another passion (WoW, duh) sometimes it is nearly impossible to keep things running alone. These two guys where nice enough to volunteer to help out! There are still blogging positions available too! Having some HTML experiance is preferrable, but just a good knowledge of the game is the only must.

Blackblade, one of our fine Global Moderators on the forums, recently pointed out our wiki. This has the opportunity to become a great resource for Death Knights everywhere!

The wiki itself is in the extreme early stages (as it should be), since Death Knight information has been a rare commodity up until Beta was released just a few weeks ago.

The wiki itself requires a decent knowledge of the Wiki syntax, the same used on Wikipedia. It also requires you to make your own account, which is a simple process of giving your email.
