It's just so weak compared to Vamp Blood or Bone Shield. I don't think UA is even worth buffing with a glyph, since the gain is not likely to save your bacon every 2 mins (in comparison, the Glyphs for the other two can save you).

Has anyone seen threads on PTR giving feedback? I'd like to chip in.

At the least UA should be buffed, since block-tank's have gained more shield block itemisation (and it looks like UA was balanced to approximately a block-tank).

Anyone got a good argument about how I'm wrong and UA is really great?

Update: posted on official forums here.

I'm in complete agreement with you, Gravity. I haven't even used the ability in ages... it's just so weak that I never pop it, as it wouldn't help me out.

I think UBA is as offensive as it is defensive. In that sense, it's pretty nice but not for the same reason as say Bone Shield. UBA can give a nice threat boost when needed. Even still, the times I use UBA is very limited.

In order of value to me:
1) PvP
2) Thorim arena
3) Hodir frozen blows (although I just stay in blood spec now so I guess it's moot)
4) Ignis add tanking (nice for absorbing a lot of the fire patch ticks, but I just stay in blood spec now)
5) Kolo add tanking

It's not a great mitigation talent and it really seems the most valuable to me in pvp, but has some decent situational uses especially while gearing up.

As a block value simulator, it shares all the intrinsic problems of block value.  Thus, it's overpowered against small hits (IE: rogues) and nearly worthless against large hits (ie: pve content).  I actually skipped it on the PTR, though if I had all 71 talent points I'd have taken it.

agree, i do not think frost has any good tanking talents, besides the threat generation from frost strike

I wonder if the Coliseum content will be less single-target bosses, and more multi-mobs. Can't wait to see some PTR tests on it so we can find out.

If so, avoidance will become more highly valued, and UA, plus Frigid Deathplate and Howling Blast will be excellent.

So no-one has seen a PTR comment thread on UA yet? I've not.

Yeah its a weak talent against hard hitters but I still use it, why not, every little helps. It only shines for me in Freya's room when tanking the packs. They should make it so that it lowers dmg of every hit by 10% or something. It wouldnt be OP on huge packs then & would also be nice against hard hitting bosses.

Do we think we'll see increased swing timers from bosses? If so, with more hits for less we could see the return of avoidance tanking over EH?

I keep reading this sentence and thinking, "that sounds really boring". It makes me think of content that Holy Pallys can FoL spam through.

Although I'm guessing it just means more "involved" boss encounters possibly with multiple tanks... think Fathom Lord or Illidari Council.

I believe you said you've played with Algalon a bit already.

No one's flash spamming through that.

Before Sunwell, there was a great deal of non boring content that didnt involve HL spam because the boss hit for 55% of one's life.

UBA needs a boost.

The recent armor nerfs have hit it quite hard.

I went from 1.4k+ to 1.2k.
Now it's going down even more.

Maybe have it reduce damage taken by an amount equal to 30% of your damage reduction gained from armor.
Assuming 62% damage reduction from armor. That's 18.6% reduced damage.
Assuming 70% damage reduction from armor. That's 21% reduced damage.
Assuming 75% damage reduction from armor. That's 22.5% reduced damage.

Numbers probably need tweaking. I just took Bone Armor's damage reduction as aiming point.

btw, I checked, UA gives me about a 0.6% extra parry chance (ie. nothing).
